Welcome to the Lithuanian American Club and the Florida Lithuanian Center!

The Lithuanian American Club is a non-profit organization located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Our club owns its own facility, The Florida Lithuanian Center (FLC), which includes two halls and serves as a hub for a wide range of Lithuanian cultural events and activities. In addition to community programs, the halls are available for public rental and provide an excellent venue for weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, and other special occasions. While Lithuanians live throughout Florida, the largest concentration has traditionally been in the western part of Central Florida—particularly the Tampa Bay region, including St. Petersburg, Tampa, Palm Harbor, and Sarasota. We are a warm and welcoming community, known for our love of music, dance, traditional dishes such as kugelis and cepelinai, and lively conversation over a glass of wine or a mug of beer.

The Club’s origins date back more than 60 years. In 1956, a group of Lithuanian Americans in the St. Petersburg (Gulfport) area formed a choir called Daile. Many of its members were retirees who had immigrated to the United States in the early 20th century and later settled in Florida after working in northern cities. After several years, the members recognized the need for a broader organization that would foster fellowship among Lithuanian Americans and preserve Lithuanian heritage, culture, and traditions. With that vision, the Lithuanian American Club was officially founded in November 1961. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization and registered with the State of Florida.

The Club began with 40 founding members and quickly grew into the largest Lithuanian American organization in Florida. Thanks to the dedication and generosity of its members, the Club opened its own building, the FLC, on February 1, 1964. Entirely funded, built, and furnished through member donations, the facility includes a library, a large hall, two smaller halls, and a fully equipped kitchen and bar.

Over the years, the FLC has hosted folk dance groups, choirs, Lithuanian heritage classes, and countless cultural and social events. It continues to serve as a gathering place for local Lithuanian residents as well as visitors from around the world. In recent years, the FLC has increasingly welcomed performers and musicians from Lithuania, bringing the latest expressions of Lithuanian culture to the community.

Leadership of the Club is elected annually, typically in January, and is made up of a Board of Directors and an Audit Commission.

Today, after more than six decades, the Florida Lithuanian Center remains a cornerstone of Lithuanian life in Florida and the southeastern United States—promoting fellowship, preserving traditions, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Lithuania.
